What teachers really want to tell parents

In "What Teachers Really Want to Tell Parents" by Ron Clark explains the fact that teachers are feeling abused because of the parents of their students. The average teacher nowadays only teaches for four and a half years before throwing in the towel. Many of these teacher say that the main reason for their quitting is because of the parents. Parents need to realize that the teacher does not try to get their kid into trouble.  "What Teachers Really Want to Tell Parents" by Ron Clark shows that parents don't always know whats right.
This article  was disgusting. Parents are so ignorant to the fact that a teacher wont lie to you about your kid. This is crazy. The fact that parents will ask for a witness if their kid does something bad and the teacher says they did is outrageous. This will ruin the hope of anyone becoming a teacher because of the thought that you could be treated badly by the parents of a student. Parents need to realize that they may be ruining the hope and dreams of those who look forward to becoming a teacher a some point. "What Teachers Really Want to Tell Parents" by Ron Clark shows that teacher jobs are a lot harder than we think.

Stacking Cups problem with Systems of Equations


I want to compare cups (two at a time) and tell how many cups it would take until the stack of the shorter of the two cups is taller than a stack with the same number of cups of the taller cup. Comparing, #1 with #2, then #1 with #3, then #1 with #4, then #2 with #3, then #2 with #4, and finally #3 with #4.

 
Equations of cups:
#1: y=.2 x + 5.5
#2: y=1 x + 4.5
#3: y=1.5 x +7.5
#4: y=.6 x + 9

I found my answers by graphing these equations and writing the ordered pairs.

Sense in the problem it I have to find the number to make it taller I have to round up all the decimals I get.
1-2: x=2 cups Because if you substitute in 2 for x in equations 1 and 2 equation 1's y will be bigger than equation 2's. 
1-3: x=no solution because you can't have a negative number of cups and if you just look at them you can tell that it wouldn't work.
1-4: x=no solution because you can't have a negative number of cups and if you just look at them you can tell that it wouldn't work.
2-3: x=no solution because you can't have a negative number of cups and if you just look at them you can tell that it wouldn't work.
2-4: x=12 cups  Because if you substitute in 12 for x in equations 2 and 3 equation 2's y will be bigger than equation 4's. 
3-4: x=2 cups  Because if you substitute in 2 for x in equations 3 and 4 equation 3's y will be bigger than equation 4's.

In Michael Wesch's Machines Are Using Us he demonstrates how rapidly the internet is evolving. He explains how it is more flexible and easier to work with than writing on paper.  One point he makes is about the massive amounts of internet data. This is what he said, “Who will organize that data, we will, you will.” These words show that there really is no one person that organizes the data on the internet. Wesch also shows that the internet learns from what we click on showing it what we favor. To name a few things that the internet may change about every day life are ethics, family, and government. The very last thing that Wesch states is that the web consumes people's lives. He states that “We are the web”.     
In Michael Wesch's Machines Are Using Us he shows the rapid pace the internet learns about the people who use it and it is starting to get out of control. He suggests the internet is un-monitored and is taking in so much data that it's impossible to monitor. The internet can be a dangerous place because on the internet there are no secrets. People should be more careful about what they do on the internet to gain more of their life back. Sadly the internet has taken over our lives so much that to shut it down would me riots in the streets, so that is out of the question. the internet is useful in more ways than it is not, it should stay around. It just has to be more highly monitored than it is currently.

Reflective blog post.

I believe this class has met most of my needs because I like that we learn outside of class as well as in class . It helps me to try to adopt an understanding of it first then have someone explain it to me in their way.
       I'd say algebra come somewhat naturally to me so this class is pretty easy.
       To help me be more successful as a student i really like applying math to real life situations so if we were to do more of that in class that would be nice.
      To be more successful my self I think if I worked harder on everything i do that would be good.
      My parents always support me in the best way they can so probably not.

In Will Richardson's Footprints in the Digital Age” He shows that the marks we make on today's internet can affect people for the rest of their lives. In his article he stresses on the the fact that he wants his kids to have a good search reputation in the world and when his kid gets searched by an employer or future mate that they would find something reinforcing rather than not. He gives us reason to have a contact on a social media site weather we want to or not.

In Will Richardson's "Footprints in the Digital Age" he stresses on the importance to make a good impression on the world via the internet. He gives us example that have a very high probability of happening. This example isn't one of his but also has a very high probability rate. Getting hired as a manager at the new hotel in town can be hard, the interview went well enough to get the job. You are called the next morning with the verdict and you don't get the job. Why? The person on the other line says look up your name on "Google". What is found are pictures of you from last weekends party drunk as a sailor with no pants on. Wouldn't that suck to be so close yet so far from a dream job all because of that one photo. In Footprints in the Digital Age” by Will Richardson, he uncloaks the hard truth about what can happen if only one bad photo goes on the internet.

x and y intercepts

The X-intercept is where the line on a graph hits the (X,0). The Y-intercept is where the line on the graph hits the points (0,Y).
Example:   Y=2x+4  to find the Y intercept substitute a 0 in for X making the equation Y=2*0+4 or Y=4 meaning the Y-intercept is (0,4). For the X-intercept you have to substitute 0 in for the Y like this 0=2x+4 then you have to figure out what to multiply 2 by to cancel out the 4. in this case the x is 2, 0=2(2)+4 making the X-intercept (2,0).
To remember which is which just substitute 0 in for the one you aren't trying to find.
